The Lovecraft horror is a strange beast: mid-scary visceral, mid-frightening indescribable. It is quite difficult to capture both the grotesque and the unspeakable with words — imagine how difficult it is to try to put this combo into an interactive support. If you are wondering, Solarium does a very good job, so we are delighted to see this incursion into an Antarctic Research Center of another world focused on another console. The players play the role of Frank Gilman, a researcher who wakes up one day with a terrible noise and the inexplicable disappearance of all the others in the base. In order to solve the mystery, you will have to guide it through the tortuous corridors, in dangerous dreams and past macabre enemies. If you are lucky, you will survive to see one of the multiple purposes of the game. If you do not have a chance… Well. Look at the trailer.
This game follows the traces of the horror classics as side hill in its focus on the atmosphere and narration, which is always a welcome addition to a kind filled with jumps. The press release describes it as follows the captivating history of four scientists and their efforts to challenge what we normally consider as the absolute boundaries of nature.
It seems scary! We are always running for a story of style horror There are things that man was not supposed to know. Better yet, Solarium is inspired by Lovecraft s aux Mountains of Folio… In particular, this takes place after the events of the news, which means there is a lot of cleaning to do. Will you dare to venture out of the fragile island of human understanding? If this is the case, do not blame us for what happens. But seriously, this game is very fun. We are happy to see that it goes so well.
Solarium will be available on Nintendo Switch today in Europe and February 4 in America. It is also available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
