The cat stadium of the Dutch football first division NEC Nijmegen remains closed after the grandstand collapse at the weekend until further notice. This decided the local authorities on Tuesday. In the derby against Vitesse Arnheim (0: 1) the lower area of the Away Block was collapsed under the burden of hopping fans. Nobody got hurt. Because we do not know what the collapse has triggered and the security of the audience enjoys priority, the owner of the stadium has commissioned an external company to investigate, said the authorities in Nijmegen in a statement. The stadium will not be opened until the investigations show that it is safe. Nijmegen has accepted the decision and strives for an evasive stadium, the club announced.
